Privacy Policy
No is built so your ideas stay on your device by default. An account and cloud sync exist only if you turn them on. This page explains what that means in practice.
Who we are
No (“the app”) is published at thenolist.app. For privacy questions, write to maciej@niekochane.pl.
What the app stores on your device
Your focuses, parked ideas, archive, voice notes (audio files and on-device transcripts), list names and colours, and settings live in local storage on the phone or tablet. Speech recognition for titles runs on the device when the system provides it. None of that is sent anywhere unless you use optional sync.
No account required to use the app
You can use No without signing in. There is no account gate at launch or in onboarding. Sign-in appears only when you choose sync from Settings.
Optional account (Sign in with Apple)
If you sign in, authentication is handled by Apple and our backend (Supabase). Depending on what you share with Apple, we may receive an email address (or Apple’s private relay address) and a stable user identifier. We use that only to keep your session, attach a subscription, and sync your lists.
Optional paid sync
Sync is a paid subscription. When it is active, we store a copy of your lists on our servers so the same focuses and ideas can appear on your other devices and after a reinstall. That copy includes titles, structure, timestamps, and any text transcripts you already have. Voice recordings stay on the device that made them — audio file paths are stripped before anything is uploaded.
Hosting for sync uses Supabase (EU). Subscription status is checked with Apple and RevenueCat so we know whether sync writes are allowed. We do not sell your ideas or use them for advertising.
Purchases
Payments go through Apple. We do not see your full payment card details. Apple and RevenueCat process purchase receipts and entitlement status so the app can unlock sync.
What we do not collect by default
- Precise location
- Contacts, photos, or the rest of your photo library
- Analytics SDKs that track you across other apps (none ship with No today)
- Audio from voice notes on our servers
Account deletion
From the account screen you can delete your account. That removes your server-side sync document and entitlement row tied to the account. It does not cancel an App Store subscription — manage or cancel that in Apple ID → Subscriptions. Local data on a device remains until you delete the app or clear it yourself.
Children
No is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, note it in the app or on the site.
